Quinte Cattlemen's Association Stocker Sale -
As of Monday morning, Oct.20, there have been approximately 550 consigned for the
sale with the expectation that our numbers will reach 650 - 700 by sale time. The quality
will be excellent and fully vaccinated with stronger numbers in the 5 and 6 weights and the
8 and 9 weights at present. Char/CharX is the strongest breed presence with significant
Simm and Angus influence as well. As usual, many consignors are prepared to guarantee
heifers to be open. Take note of the one owner feature lots below which should result in many
good sized uniform ring lots. In addition to the "feature lots", there are a number of mid sized lots.
which have the promise of good sized ring lots.
"Feature One Owner Lots"
[i]Approximately 150 double moved heifers [large components of CharX and Black Xbreds] in the
950 lb. weight range - all are live vaccinated and guaranteed open - fed haylage, dry hay, and
distillers by TMR and are therefore bunk adjusted - will sell in large uniform ring lots -
[ii]95 Char calves [59 steers, 36 heifers] in the 800 lb. weight range from a live vaccinated cowherd-
sired by high performance bulls - vaccinated on Apr. 21 with a live 5 way + Pasteurella, Blackleg,
and given parasite control and repeated in full again on Sept. 13 - heifers are guaranteed to be open
and steers have been castrated surgically - weaned on August 8 - fed dry hay, corn silage, and a taste
of grain -
[iii]31 Simm and Simm/BAngus [22 steers, 9 heifers] calves from a live vaccinated cowherd in the 650-
700 lb. weight range sired by high performance bulls - vaccinated with live 5 way + Pasteurella, and
Blackleg on April 10 and both given again along with parasite control on Sept.29 -heifers are guaranteed
to be open and steers were banded at birth - on pasture, wrapped hay, and F/C salt and mineral -
